Anton I Wanshek

Our wonderful, colorful and beloved Tony passed away Thursday May 15, 2014 after a brief illness.

Tony's irreverent style, joy of life, his empathy for others and love of a good time spent with family and friends inspired everyone who knew him. There wasn't a trip to take, a conversation from the heart, or a good glass of wine that Tony didn't enjoy. While deeply saddened by his loss, his family and his friends take comfort in the joy he left in people's hearts.

He is survived by his parents, Tony and Claudia (Vertuno) Wanshek, his brother Joe and sister in-law Shea, his nephew Aaron Isaac, and his niece Ellis Grace. He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles Wayne and Madeline Wanshek, Roger and Joanne Wanshek, Dorothy and Bob Poindexter, Russellyn Peterson, as well as many cousins and scores of devoted friends.

The family plans on holding memorial services in both his hometown of Chicago, and his adopted home of Ft. Lauderdale at a to-be-determined date.

His parents and brother ask that in lieu of flowers, 'pay it forward' acts of kindness be done to celebrate his way of looking out for others.

Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
