Barbara Venecia Kourie Chevalier, a homemaker and long-time resident of Weston, FL, was reunited
with her forever Valentine, Aderso Morel on Monday, February 14, 2022. Although her death was
unexpected, she died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Barbara was born to the late Antonio Kourie and Carmen Lidia Chevalier, a leather crafter and a
homemaker, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on December 6, 1951. Barbara and her parents
immigrated to the US in July 1952. In 1967, Barbara was crowned the 1 st runner up in the Miss
Dominican pageant. Barbara’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of
her life, she was blessed with a large and loving family.
She was survived by her three daughters, Wendy Heinsen Weller, Vingianza Aybar and Evelyn Barbara
Bryant; her grandchildren Haley Alexandra Weller, Joshua Michael Weller, Ashley Franchesca Aybar,
Bethany Nicole Cruz, Izabella Sophia DeJesus, Ely Matthew DeJesus, Jairo Echeverry, Kellie Alexandra
Tamayo, Stephany Tamayo and Juan Antonio Hernandez; her great grandchildren Olivia Sofia Steinberg,
Payton Amelia Arias, Naomi Zandaya Arias (coming June 2022), Alexander Jacob Hernandez, Jaylina
Marie Rosado, Matthew Lugo, Gabriella Sky Lopez, Anthony Manuel Echeverry, Eliana Danielle
Echeverry and Isabella Rose Echeverry; she is preceded in death by her husband, her sister, her brother
and her parents.
Barbara was an inspiration to all who knew her; she was a kind and gentle person who loved spending
time with family and friends. Barbara will be missed but never forgotten, she will forever live on in our
hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for potted plants in order to make a garden to commemorate Barbara.
