Ben passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 surrounded by love from his very close friends who he called “his family.” Ben was born in Albany, Georgia and lived his abundant life in Albany and Atlanta, GA, Los Angeles, CA and Fort Lauderdale.

He was predeceased by his father, Benjamin Harlon Brown, and, mother, Dorothy Powell Brown.

Ben never met a stranger and always put others’ needs well before his own. For the past 3.5 years, Ben called Ocean Monarch (OM) his second home. He thought of OM not as a source of employment, but a special building where he could give service and kindness to everyone.

Ben cherished the relationships he had with his special friends and extended family. He consistently strived to help make a positive difference in their lives. Ben was a strong individual who fought bravely as he endured the complications of his cancer.

He was a true inspiration to everyone as he met each day’s challenges with courage and faith. Ben will be missed deeply by all those fortunate enough to have had him as an integral part of their life.
