Carol Angela Foster-Harrison, affectionately known as “Tatty", was a vibrant soul who literally lit up the room whenever she entered. Anyone who has ever had the chance to meet her was immediately drawn to her. She had a warm smile and infectious personality.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica on May 9, 1956 Tatty was a fun loving energetic child. She attended Calibar Primary School and would later on go on to attend Camperdown High School. After high school she decided to embark on the journey to America to pursue a better life. After settling in the United States her ambition lead her into the field of cosmetology where she pursued several career opportunities.
Being a mom is not an easy job. Trying to raise 3 boys and 3 girls primarily on your own seems like an impossible task but mom somehow made it seem easy. She somehow made the impossible, possible. She always went above and beyond to make sure we always had what we needed. At times mom had to be both mother and father, teaching her daughters how to be women while also teaching her sons to be men.
My siblings and I still live by the values mom taught us to this day.
She always instilled in us that family is first and that we should always stick together. Cooking was her way of bringing people together. Mom loved to cook and she loved great music! She had eclectic taste in music. One day she's listening to Soft Rock and the next day Jazz. You could often find mom dancing around the house with a brush in her hand pretending it were a microphone while singing one of her favorite Sade songs. This is exactly who she was. She loved to enjoy life. Mom was a fun, energetic, and charismatic woman who was also a pillar of strength.
Tatty was definitely one of a kind.
