Carolyn Maria Grandy

Our dear sister, Carolyn Maria Grandy (nee Young), went on to her final destination May 14 at age 65 after a 4-month battle with cancer. She leaves husband Keith (married 1972, Longmeadow, MA); brothers Howard (St. Louis), Frank and Charles (Toronto); sisters Gloria (New York) and Madge; nephews Howard, Ken and Andrew (Toronto); nieces Judith (New York), Sharon, Suzanne, Karen, Lisa and Dionne.

Maria lived in Jamaica, Canada, Bermuda, and Antigua before settling in Dade County, Florida in 1986. In 1988 she joined Richard Rubin at fledgling Republic Metals in Opa-locka. That partnership spanned 25 years of growth and friendships at Republic, equaled only by travels with her niece and god-daughter Dionne across 5 of the 7 continents and at least 50 countries. Maria was a model of generosity and peaceful living. Her untimely death is testimony to the adage that only the good die young. We take comfort that Maria is now with our beloved father Kenneth (deceased 1973) and mother Annie (deceased 2010).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 11:00-12:00 Noon at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, located at 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. Phone (954)972-1234.

The Mass will be held in the Large Chapel inside the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, located in the main building, next to the cemetery offices.
