Catherine Veronica Brooks

Catherine Veronica (John) Brooks, a remarkable and highly respected member of the
community. On May 27, 2023, Catherine peacefully departed from this world at her
residence in Tamarac, Florida, surrounded by the comforting familiarity of her home. Her
devoted husband, Terry H. Brooks Jr., stood by her side throughout her final moments,
providing unwavering support and love.

Born on October 10, 1952, in Trinidad & Tobago, Catherine embarked on a remarkable
journey marked by relentless ambition and unwavering determination, which eventually
led her to the United States of America. Overcoming the challenges of immigration, she
proudly became a citizen, embodying the spirit of resilience and seizing the boundless
opportunities that awaited those who sought success.

Catherine's life was characterized by a fulfilling career that showcased her compassion and
unwavering dedication to helping others. Her journey began as a tutor for senior-aged
women, and through her unwavering commitment and intellectual prowess, she quickly
advanced, holding positions such as an accounts clerk and later an accounts management
supervisor at Geico Insurance. Her professionalism, intellect, and relentless pursuit of
excellence were evident in every endeavor she undertook.

Catherine was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Rose Millicent John, and her late
father, William Christopher John. She is survived by her loving husband, Terry H. Brooks
Jr., her son, Ralph Modeste, and her siblings: Michael A. John, Uclin E. Parris, David B.
John, Joseph S. John, Susan A. John (Baseden), Antoinette M. John, Mark W. John, Hazel
H. Claiborne, and Sharon John Clark. Catherine will be fondly remembered by her
grandchildren, Dajon Modeste and Elijha Modeste and 3 cousins: Curtis Rose, Rosita
Williams, and Elizabeth Majas.
