Domenico Ferrante
Domenico Ferrante passed away peacefully at home in Pompano Beach, FL on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 to be with his Lord at the age of 79.
Domenico is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rossana (Cortina) Ferrante. Domenico is lovingly remembered by his son Raniero (Ron) Ferrante of Pompano Beach, FL and his wife Dara and grandson's Michael and Alexander. His daughter Annuziata (Nancy) Kezel and her husband Michael of Pompano Beach, FL. His sisters Antoinette and Domenico Persichilli, Maria and the late Andrea Cefaloni and Lorenzina Ferrante. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Born in Ripi, Italy on December 13,1938. Domenico grew up during (WWII) war times. Although he was a small boy, the devastating events surrounding his childhood did not stop his hopes and dreams of a better life. He along with his parents and sisters immigrated in 1958 to the United States. Domenico proudly became a U.S. Citizen and was proud to be an American his entire life. When he moved to America, he left behind the love of his life Rossana Cortina. He proposed and brought her to America where they married and had a family and have been together ever since. On June 21, 2018 they would have celebrated 60 years of matrimony.
Domenico was a butcher by trade and entrepreneur at heart. Domenico and Rossana successfully ran an Italian deli (Roma Importing) in Danbury that was established by his parents Raniero and Santina Ferrante. Roma's as it was called was a neighborhood fixture, the store was open 7 days a week during a time when convenience stores were non-existent.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home, 117 South Street, Danbury, CT .
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 25, 2018 to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Gregory the Great, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury, CT. Burial to follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery, Lake Avenue, Danbury, CT.
