Herman Freese

July 23, 1933 — November 25, 2023

Herman Freese (90) of Sarasota, FL, went to our Lord on November 25, 2023, in the company of his daughters, after spending one of the happiest days of his life on a Caribbean cruise.

Herman was born on July 23, 1933 and grew up in Baldwin, NY. Herman had a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University, and served 2 years in the US Army at Ft Detrick.

He married Janice (Schelling) Freese in 1959 and they had 2 daughters.

Herman was a District Manager for New England Telephone in Boston and he had a lifelong love of baseball, going to Fenway Park with his family for many years. Herman also loved college football, and  playing poker with his friends, cruising with his daughters, but most of all he loved his family.

After retiring, Herman moved to Florida to be with his daughters , and they spent many happy years together going to Disney World, concerts, baseball games, and cruising.

Herman is survived by his loving daughters, Laurie Freese and Deborah Freese, of Sarasota, FL, his sister Marianne (Freese) Peterson and her husband Frank Peterson, nephew Tim Peterson and his wife Joni, niece Jane Peterson, sister-in-law Rev. Margaret Ferguson and nephews Harold and Tom Schelling . He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Schelling) Freese, and his parents Herman and Sophie ( Heckman) Freese.

He will be buried at Sarasota National Cemetery, next to his beloved wife Janice.
Our dad devoted his entire life to his family. We will forever hold his love in our hearts. He will always be our hero.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the American Heart Association may be made in his memory.
