Obituary for Howard Foisy

Howard Allen Foisy passed away on January 20, 2018 (age 79) after a brief illness.

Howard was born on April 1, 1938 in New Bedford, MA to Edgar and Clara Foisy. He joined the United States Marine Reserves at age 17 and later transferred to the U.S. Air Force where he served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1960 receiving a Good Conduct Medal.

Howard married Dianne Melanson in 1963 and the next year his only daughter, Michelle was born. While living in Massachusetts, he opened his own restaurant called Howard’s Luncheonette and he was quite successful at making the best fish and chips in town!

In 1973 the family moved to Pompano Beach, Florida where Howard got a job at Eckerd Drugs. He worked his way up to management and was there for many years. He later opened his own handyman business and had since retired.

Over the years Howard enjoyed a variety of hobbies including: carpentry, photography, salt water aquariums, computers and video games. He liked to watch old westerns, science fiction and comedies. Howard enjoyed listening to country music and Elvis Presley. He loved going on cruises with his family and playing in the casino. Howard adored his only grandson, Andrew.

Howard will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A kind, quiet, gentle man who could fix almost anything. You left us too soon. Forever in our hearts, you will be remembered fondly by everyone.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dianne Foisy; daughter Michelle Dufresne; son-in-law, Paul Dufresne; grandson, Andrew Dufresne; brother and sister-in-law, David & Donna Foisy and their son Jeff ; sister, Gladys Monast and her children, Steven, Nancy and Susan along with many other family members.

Per Howard’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the family for his grandson Andrew Dufresne’s college fund.

The family will hold a private ceremony where Howard’s ashes will be scattered at sea.

“He who believes in me, shall have eternal life”
