Jean Pierre Roy, resident of Margate, Florida passed away on October 31, 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Duval Roy.
Jean-Pierre Roy was a former pitcher in Major League Baseball. He pitched in three games during the 1946 season for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
While with the minor league Montreal Royals, Roy played with Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play in the major leagues. Roy retains a friendship with Robinson's widow, Rachel Robinson. Roy was later a television commentator for the Montreal Expos from 1968 to 1984 and a public relations representative for the Expos. He was inducted into the Expos Hall of Fame in 1995, and the Quebec Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001.
