Obituary for John Oliver Holmes

John Oliver Holmes (Johnny) was born on September 18th 1957 in Queens, New York. He was the youngest of two sons born to the late William Holmes and the late Gladys Holmes.

Johnny received his early elementary and high school education in Queens. As a young man he had a passion for basketball and playing the drums. He held several jobs in New York including working as a butcher at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens.
He married Renita Mary Duprey on September 18th 1982. Their union resulted in three wonderful children (John, Desiree and Patrick).

Johnny moved to San Antonio, Texas with his family where he obtained his Commercial Driver License. He then began his career as a professional truck driver. The family eventually moved to Florida in 1990. In 2001 Johnny became an owner operator and worked to support his family while his wife attended nursing school. He remained and owner operator until his death.

Johnny loved people, sports, trucks, fishing, playing the drums and traveling. However, his greatest passion was spending quality time with his family and loved ones. Those who knew Johnny knew him to be outspoken, REAL, and kindhearted. He enjoyed making others laugh even at his expense and he was a FIERCE protector of those he loved.

His memory shall be cherished by his devoted wife Renita Mary Holmes; son John II(Shea); daughter Desiree(JohnF.); son Patrick(Kenya), grandchildren: Lavontay, Anisa, Janyah, John III and Lasinya.
