Larry J. Christiansen

December 4, 1950 — February 16, 2025

Fort Lauderdale

Larry Joe Christiansen born in Clinton, IA to Glenn and Evelyn Christiansen, passed away peacefully after a long battle with heart disease on February 16th, 2025 in Fort Lauderdale, FL at the age of 74.

Larry is survived by his wife, Karen Edith Christiansen, eight children, eighteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five siblings, and two loving chihuahuas.

He served in the Army from 1971 to 1973. He attended the University of Texas of El Paso where he studied English Literature and Art Appreciation while serving in the Army. He continued to work with the Army as a reservist 1973-77. He began his career as a salesman working for the family business, Central Harvest Store. He and his family later moved to Missouri where he worked on the family farm. Over the following years he worked at various construction type jobs, primarily building water tanks. In 1990 he began a long career of 23 years working for Florida Aquastore as a foreman building A.O. Smith water tanks around the state of Florida, the Caribbean Islands, and South America. He formally retired in 2013 from Florida Aquastore to spend more time with Karen and family.

He was a hard working family man. During his time home from work he spent time with his family watching movies, playing games, and going on trips around the country. During one summer, his family spent the entire summer working and vacationing with him in Aruba and the Dominican Republic.

He loved music, the ocean, and space. He was enamored by all forms of science fiction and facts about space. Star Trek and Star Wars were his favorites. He’s always had animal companions in his life and most recently raised and loved two chihuahuas. More than anything, he loved his wife and family.

A Celebration of Larry’s Life is planned for March 8th, 2025 at Ocean Breeze Mayport, FL. Friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry’s life.
