Leanore Blake Artel, resident of Pompano Beach, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 12, 2013 at the John Knox Village Health Center. Leanore was the most gracious and loving mother and mother-in-law to Victoria Lee Artel and Gino Dellapiana of Deerfield Beach and Elizabeth Artel Bergmann and Lewis Bergmann of Niceville, Florida. She was a precious "Nana" to Sophia Elizabeth Bergmann and a dear friend to so many people.
Leanore and the love of her life, Len Artel, together owned the DeLigny Art Gallery on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale after moving to Florida from Long Island, New York in 1969. Leanore was a friend to many artists and collectors alike and she forged lifelong friendships during those years. She was welcoming and kind to all who walked through their doors and their home was often filled with friends of their daughters or artists or anyone charmed by their warm hospitality. Leanore was a truly gracious and kind lady who always made certain no one was forgotten at Christmas. As her health declined, Lee eventually moved to Pompano Beach where she was a resident at the John Knox Village Health Center. The care she received in her last two years of life was loving, compassionate, and heartfelt. The family is forever grateful to the staff on the memory unit who kept her safe, comfortable and happy in her final days.
Eternal peace grant unto her oh Lord and may perpetual light shine upon her. We love and miss you always our sweet Mother and Nana!
A Funeral Mass and Celebration of Leanore's life will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church at 9:30 AM, Monday, August 5th, 2013, located at 380 S Federal Hwy Deerfield Beach, FL 33441 (954) 427-2225
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made for the animal shelter Tri County Humane Society (561) 482-8110 www.tricountyhumane.org
