Michael von Wezyk

Michael von Wezyk was born in Miami, Florida on September 7, 1940, the son of Jessie Ammons and Anastasia Frank Wezyk. Mike, to his friends, died on February 25, 2025, at the age of 84.

He leaves behind two daughters with Vera Ann Ballew, Virginia Daniel, and Lisa Sweeny, and one daughter, Nefterina Wezyk, with Miriam Rivera. Still surviving, are his brothers Robert "Bobby" Wezyk and Frank Wezyk and his grandchildren Dasha Daniel, Sydney Cadrain, and Alex Rodriguez. Michael is predeceased by his cherished sister, Lucille "Lulu" (Beers) Neff, his brother Ted Wezyk and his grandson, Jesse Cadrain.

Michael's career included jobs as a jet mechanic, vacuum salesman, and 20+ years as a union ironworker and foreman--helping build downtown Miami's skyline--as well as secretary and treasurer for Local 272. He was also a successful business owner, aka Flagman of Miami, installing flagpoles for Florida businesses including Dave & Buster’s, the rest stops along the Florida Turnpike and Joe Robbie Stadium aka Hard Rock Stadium to name a few. He was a great mechanic, who loved working with his hands on cars, boats, or using a backhoe to help his neighbors. If there was something he did not know how to do, he always figured out a way. He was always helping others in need.

As a father, Michael was the dad who always taught his daughters to have a good moral compass. His motto was, you can accomplish anything if you work for it, honesty is always the best policy and to help those who cannot help themselves. You must lead by example. He taught his daughters to be strong, independent women, to, think and do for themselves. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Nefterina’s home at 1140 Cherrypalm Lane, Hollywood, Florida, 33019 on Saturday, March 1, 2025, starting @ 2pm.
