Norma Bairan (September 24, 1934 - October 28, 2024)
Norma Bairan, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.
She is reunited with her dear mother, Tuta Bairan, and her beloved husband, Gonzalo ‘Chally’ Perez.
Norma was proudly born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where she learned to love music, dancing, and her future husband. After moving to Miami, Florida she settled down in Tamarac, where she worked for the City Of Tamarac until her retirement. Norma always dedicated herself to her community, including helping establish a Little League, and the first Boy Scout Troop in Tamarac. She later became a familiar, warm-hearted presence in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and local womens' shelters, as she collected and distributed clothing and other items to people in need.
She is survived by her only son, Luke Carlos Bairan, his wife Monica, her cherished granddaughters, Cassandra Blackwood, husband Kip, and Aralyn Bairan. Her family carries forward her love for history, the arts, culture and education, as well as her joy in sharing food together and trying new cuisines.
In honor of Norma, consider enjoying a scoop of your favorite ice cream.
