Obituary for Peter James Williams

Peter J. Williams, Sr, 83 was born September 25, 1931, the eight son of Reverend Linyon L. Williams, Sr. and Cora Bell Williams in Midville, Georgia.

He attended the public school system of Burke County, Georgia and was an early member of the Bark Camp Baptist Church, also in Burke County, Georgia.

His travels extended from Georgia to Lakeland, Florida eventually ending up in New York City, New York, where he met his wife, Helen T. Cain. Peter had a career full of wonderful stories, commendations and awards as a utility worker with Con Edison of New York City. He worked from 1956-1993 in both electric and gas operations.

Peter was known for his fishing, hunting, family outings, and his love for family, both immediate and extended. He loved westerns, country music and wrestling. He was a force to be reckoned with...he commanded and demanded respect with one look.

Peter is survived by his eldest daughter Valerie E. Williams-Raiford; Crystal M. Williams; Cora G. Williams-Peterson (Daryl); Luerinda Williams; his brother, Reverend Robert B. Williams Sr; Naomi Miles (George); Reverend Doctor Samuel Williams Sr. (Claudia); daughter-in-law Barbara Williams, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
