Regina Rae Vidal

December 17, 2001 — January 27, 2024

Regina Rae Vidal, a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and an irreplaceable community member in South Florida, passed away on January 27, 2024 at 22 years old.

Regina, or “Reggie” as her loved ones know her as, was born in Burbank, California on December 17, 2001 surrounded by family who were overjoyed with her arrival as the youngest of 4 daughters. She will be deeply mourned by her parents Nicholas and Rae Vidal, her sisters Jaimee Perez and Danielle Vidal, and her nephews Jaiden Aristizabal and Nicholas Salvucci. She is one of 17 grandchildren of Francisco and Juana Perez and has many aunts, uncles, and cousins in her Vidal, Perez, and extended families who will miss her dearly. Her soul is reunited with her big sister Jawni Vidal, her grandparents Francisco and Theresa Vidal, her tía Cyndi Perez and uncle Frank Vidal.

Regina moved to South Florida in 2003 with her family and spent her childhood on the soccer field watching her sisters play and stealing the hearts of everyone she encountered. Generations of soccer players and families will remember Regina’s vibrant energy, how she befriended everyone, her playful spirit, her silliness, and her infectious laugh. She brought joy to everyone on the soccer field and through watching her sisters compete she developed her own unique playing style and a natural technique for the game. Regina went on to play club soccer and was the captain of the varsity soccer team at Fort Lauderdale High School. Her coaches and teammates describe her as a great leader and dynamic player. Her friends remember her for how caring, nurturing, and uplifting she was, providing a safe space for people to express themselves and be themselves, fully.

After graduating high school early in 2020, she became a server, working at various restaurants in South Florida, and also joined the South Florida Women’s Soccer League. She was a member of the Renegades, a team she played on with her mom and a source of pride and joy for both of them.

Regina loved to spend time with her family and friends more than anything. Every year she would travel to California to visit with her sisters and cousins, spending many summers camping in Morro Bay. She was always dancing, singing, rapping, and enjoying herself. Regina’s impact and presence cannot be understated and she will be missed by many communities that she was embedded in. We will always remember her as our “baby Reggie” and will think of her every time we hear the music she loved or see a butterfly as beautiful as she is and forever will be.
