Richard Lawrence Wendahl passed away November 17, 2019, in Hollywood, FL at the age of 87. He was born May 16, 1932 in Waukegan, Illinois to Bror Albert Wendahl and Florence Beecroft Wendahl. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Albert.
He is survived by his nephew and three nieces, Joel Wendahl of Neenah WI, Anne Lambrecht (Tim) of Alma, MI, Mary Beth Heymans (Greg) of Minneapolis, MN and Sara Falci (Andrew) of Elm Grove, WI.
Richard graduated from Waukegan High School and went to work for Johns Manville as an Electrician. He served in the Air Force as a Staff Sargent from 1952-1960. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Richard worked as a barber and in building maintenance before retiring. Richard enjoyed the warm sunshine of Florida, walking, and art. His family and friends will always remember him as a loyal, funny and light hearted. The family would like to thank his neighbor and friend, Stephen Caplan, Laura Martinez, RN and other caregivers for their compassionate care.
Burial and service will take place at South Florida Veterans Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL on Tuesday, November 26 at 10:15 am.
