Sebastian Lupo, 93, passed away on October 3, 2021.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to Peter and Mary, he became an entertainer at a young age, performing at weddings and gatherings with his father. He was quite an industrious individual, forming a successful 17-piece band while still in high school, all of whom remained friends their entire lives.
Little known fact, as a teen, Don attended Brooklyn automotive school until he discovered auto mechanics was not for him! He went on to compete on the Arthur Godfrey radio show, continued performing with his band, and began infusing comedy into his act. He met a beautiful woman, who would later become his wife, while performing in NY
. After traveling throughout the north and Canada, performing comedy and singing, they eventually settled in Miami Beach in 1951 with their son Raymond. There he formed a trio, The Tip Toppers, and worked in Miami, at The Miami Springs Villas. Later he moved to The Aztec Hotel where he stayed for over 23 years. During that time he also appeared on TV shows such as, The Dinah Shore Show, The Mike Douglas Show, and The Jackie Gleason Show. He performed in Las Vegas, the Catskill and Pocono Mountains, and also appeared with Rodney Dangerfield at his club in NY. He acted in movies and TV commercials, and was a member of SAG-AFTRA for over 55 years.
Don and Judith (Jensen) had three children Raymond, John, and Darren. (Judith and Raymond preceded him in death.) He is survived by son John (Karen) Lupo and daughter Darren (Laura) Lupo; eight grandchildren, Brian (Christy) Lupo, Lauren, Landon, Logan, Autumn, Amanda (Patrick) O’Hara, Katherine (John) Parker, and Allison Quinn; and 7 great-grandchildren, Austen, Brody, Reagan, Patrick, Timothy, Elizabeth, and Ryan.
Services will be Friday at Serenity Funeral Home, 1450 S SR 7, N Lauderdale, FL 33068. 954-306-2124 from 11AM-1PM. Interment immediately following at Forest Lawn South, 2401 Davie Rd, Davie, Fl
