Thomas Edson Barrett, talented, creative, brilliant musician, artist , writer and humble man passed peacefully at home Feb 28 with his loving companion, Mary wisher by his side.
Tom was born in Norwich, Connecticut, on November 24, 1954 the 9th of 16 children to Elizabeth Brigham Barrett and Frederick C. Barrett, MD. Tom was educated by the Sisters of Mercy at the St Patrick Parochial School in Norwich, and served as an altar boy at the Cathedral of St. Patrick. Tom attended St. Bernard High School and Graduated from the Norwich Free Academy in 1972. He was co-captain of the swim team his senior year and held the schools record for the 100 yd backstroke for several years. Thereafter he continued to swim at the University of Connecticut and a proud member of 2 All New England UConn swim teams.
Tom graduated from UConn in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. After graduating from UConn, Tom was a music therapist at the now closed Seaside Regional Center in Waterford, Conn. After competing in a national collegiate swim meet at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Tom fell in love with sunny So Fla.
